Use cases

For recruitment, research and workshops. We adapt the quotes and profile to your goals.

Explore what motivates a candidate.

Rapflections helps you explore what motivates a candidate and how they think under pressure. The profile gives you starting points for follow-up questions during the interview.

The rap quotes invite candidates to talk about their values and experiences.

Suitable for

  • Organisations looking to recruit more diversely
  • Roles where soft skills are crucial
  • Teams wanting to discuss candidates' values and motivations
  • HR departments wanting to deepen the conversation

Explore values and experiences.

Rapflections helps you explore how participants think about identity, values or social themes. Participants respond to rap quotes and explain their choices. Their responses offer insight into their beliefs and experiences.

The profiles can be used as qualitative data. The STAR reflection exercise adds accounts of specific experiences for thematic analysis.

Suitable for

  • Research into identity, values and motivation
  • Audience research at cultural institutions
  • Evaluation of inclusion-focused programmes
  • Mixed-methods designs requiring qualitative depth

Discuss what matters to your team.

Rapflections helps teams discuss what collaboration means to each of them. Participants complete the tool individually and then discuss their profiles. This helps them put often unspoken themes into words.

The conversations explore how people think, what they value and how they respond under pressure.

Suitable for

  • Team development and leadership programmes
  • Onboarding new employees
  • Diversity and inclusion programmes
  • Workshops on collaboration and communication

Scientific basis

Rapflections draws on two theoretical frameworks. Transactive Memory Systems (Wegner, 1987) describes how teams function more effectively when members know who holds which knowledge and skills. The profiles help teams identify and discuss that knowledge.

Self-Determination Theory (Deci & Ryan, 2000) states that autonomy, competence and relatedness form the basis of intrinsic motivation. The tool gives participants control over their own profile and creates connection through shared reflection.
